Simply the Best

For the first non-replica production of the international hit musical about Tina Turner’s life, Michael Balgavy created the video design. The visual world follows her dramatic journey through racism, sexism, drugs, abuse and ageism, obstacles she overcame one by one. Working together with Benjamin La Cour’s LED set and Ulrik Gad’s lighting design, the visuals are built for touring and move from venue to venue across Scandinavia.

Produced by Lion Musicals, directed by Martin Lyngbo and starring Iris Gold in the title role, the show premiered on 27 August 2026 at Falkonersalen in Frederiksberg and toured Denmark, with stops including Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Esbjerg and Randers.

The original musical premiered in London’s West End in 2018, where it ran for seven years, and opened on Broadway in 2019.
